As a board-certified podiatrist and pediatric specialist, Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM can help with the most complex of foot and ankle ailments. Dr. DeHeer is in private practice and cares for patients at Hoosier Foot & Ankle. After earning his doctor of podiatric medicine degree from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Dr. DeHeer went through his residency in podiatric surgery at Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis. He then completed a fellowship in foot and ankle arthroscopy. Dr. DeHeer is double board certified through the ABPS, specializing in foot surgery, as well as reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. He holds professional memberships with the APMA, the ACFAP, and the ACFAS. He is the team podiatrist for the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever.Dr. DeHeer is the founder of Step-by-Step Haiti and Foot Aid a medical missionary with 25 trips worldwide and won the Humanitarian Award from the APMA in 2011 and was honored again in 2014 by the FIP.
As a highly trained podiatric surgeon, L. Marie Keplinger, DPM, specializes in successfully treating foot and ankle conditions created by sports injuries, trauma, degenerative diseases and complex deformity. Orthopaedic fellowship-trained, Dr. Keplinger's expertise includes reconstructive foot and ankle procedures, tendon repair, arthroscopy, as well as total ankle replacements.
Dr. Sugino is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon specializing in comprehensive reconstruction of the foot and ankle. She is board certified in foot and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS).
Dr. Sugino advanced her surgical and clinical training by completing an additional year of fellowship at the Newport Advanced Foot & Ankle Fellowship in Newport Beach, CA. Her training focused on reconstructive forefoot, hindfoot and ankle surgery, including complex Charcot reconstructions utilizing Ilizarov external fixators, limb deformity correction, lower extremity trauma, sports medicine, total ankle replacement, and plastics procedures including advanced muscle, adipofascial and skin flaps for limb salvage.
Prior to fellowship, Dr. Sugino completed a three-year podiatric surgical residency at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, IL where she trained at the prestigious Weil Foot & Ankle Institute. Simultaneously, she completed a Dermatopathology Fellowship that specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of numerous skin and soft tissue disorders including skin cancer with Bako Pathology in Alpharetta, GA. She received her medical education from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Sugino grew up in Wailuku, HI and received her B.S. in Biology, Minor in Music, and M.S. in Molecular Biology Infectious Disease from University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA.
Dr. Sugino has been very active in research throughout her training, and she has multiple awards for her work. She is a speaker at many conferences around the country, and she is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) and the American Microsurgical Orthoplastic Society (AMOS).
Dr. Sugino is recognized as a devoted patient advocate who focuses on advancing patient care through research, education, and treating patients like family. She incorporates evidence-based medicine and the most advanced treatments and technologies specific to each patient. Her passion in research and remaining current on the latest studies has a large influence on how she guides individualized patient care.
Dr. Sugino enjoys training for marathons, soccer, hiking, camping, surfing, rock climbing, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Jason, and their rescue dog, Foxy.
Zeeshan Husain, DPM, is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon at Great Lakes Foot and Ankle Institute located in Rochester, Chesterfield, Clinton Township, Fort Gratiot, East China Township, and Shelby Township, Michigan. His expertise is in foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma, sports medicine, and diabetic limb salvage and wound care.
Dr. Husain earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He then continued his postgraduate medical training at the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago. He completed a three-year surgical residency at Beaumont Hospital, Wayne in Wayne, Michigan, as well as advanced training in Verona, Italy.
Dr. Husain is certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot and rearfoot reconstruction and ankle surgery, and he’s also a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and American Society of Podiatric Surgeons. He is President-Elect of the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association.
He is very active in various leadership roles within the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association and American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He routinely speaks in local and national conferences and has numerous publications in journals and textbooks.
Dr. Thomas J. Chang is a board-certified and highly skilled podiatric surgeon with over 20 years of experience treating a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.
Dr. Chang graduated with his doctorate degree from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, where he was a member of the Pi Delta National Podiatry Honor Society and recipient of the Professor Louis M. Newman Surgery Award. He then completed a three-year residency program in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Emory/Northlake Regional Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to his training and practice duties, Dr. Chang also holds several appointments at local hospitals and medical schools. He is a Clinical Professor and Past Chairman of the Department of Podiatric Surgery at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. He also is Past Chief of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa. He served as Director of Surgical Residency Training as well as Health South Surgery Center.
Dr. Chang has been recognized multiple times over the years for contributions to his field. Some of these honors include: “Top 150 Most Influential Podiatrists” in 2006, appointment to the Board of Podiatric Medicine for the State of California, elected to the Regional Division Board of Directors for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and a “Top Doc” at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in 2011. He continues to provide numerous lectures for Continuing Medical Education courses to impart his expertise to other doctors.
He has contributed many articles to medical journals for emerging surgical technologies and has also participated as a co-investigator and sub-investigator for relevant research studies. However, he is most proud of his textbook, “Master Techniques in Podiatric Surgery: The Foot and Ankle,” which has sold over 6,000 copies worldwide. A generous 25% of the book’s sales goes towards international medical mission funds. Dr. Chang also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and Podiatry Today Magazine.
A native of Fall Creek, WI, I received my Fellowship training here at OFAC, under the guidance and expertise of our world renowned surgeons. Prior to the fellowship, I completed an extensive three-year surgical residency at Gundersen Medical Foundation in La Crosse, Wisconsin, serving as Co-Chief Resident. I received my Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine degree from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and graduated top of the class.
The best part of my job is helping my patients get back to doing the activities they love. I enjoy treating ankle instability and other foot and ankle ailments. These conditions can arise from general ‘wear & tear,’ old sports injuries or other trauma that tend to cause pain and difficulty with daily activities long after the initial onset. Whether treating with therapy, bracing or surgery; getting these patients back to their desired activity with less pain and improved function is rewarding and can make a major impact on their life.
Research is integral to being on the forefront of industry advances. I’ve authored several scholarly publications and was the recipient of the 2013 American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons Manuscript Award of Excellence, while receiving 2nd place in 2014 and 3rd place in 2016. Additionally, I served as Content Editor for a newly published, internationally recognized textbook on total ankle replacement.
Beyond my patient care responsibilities I enjoy spending time with my wife, Danielle and young children. My interests include cooking, running and travel.
Jeffrey McAlister, DPM, FACFAS, is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon, who specializes in advanced foot and ankle reconstruction with offices in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. McAlister’s passion for patient care began at the University of Iowa, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in 2004, before garnering an interest in podiatric medicine and surgery during his time at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.
Since his days as a podiatric medical student, Dr. McAlister has gone on to continue his education whenever possible. He completed a rigorous residency training in the northern Virginia suburbs through the INOVA Fairfax Hospital Podiatric Residency program, where he received specialized training in foot and ankle trauma, adult and pediatric reconstruction, and diabetic limb salvage.
Some of Dr. McAlister’s rotations during his time in the program included internal medicine, infectious diseases, vascular surgery, emergency medicine, and general surgery.
Under the mentorship of prominent doctors like John Steinberg DPM and Chris Attinger MD, Dr. McAlister even served as chief resident for the limb salvage service at Georgetown University Hospital during that time.
Dr. Jeffrey E. McAlister is honored to be one of only a few podiatric surgeons in the United States that has completed a 12 month surgical fellowship at the prestigious Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Columbus, Ohio. This is a unique fellowship that trains both Podiatric and Orthopedic Surgeons. This advanced surgical training focused on foot and ankle trauma, reconstruction as well as total ankle replacement. This was completed in Columbus, Ohio under the direction of Christopher Hyer, DPM, Gregory Berlet MD, Thomas Lee MD and Terrence Philbin DO and was affiliated with Grant Medical Hospital and The Ohio State University. This is the same type of fellowship that MD/DO orthopedic surgeons complete if they wish to sub-specialize in the foot and ankle.
As a fellow member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and national speaker and peer educator, Dr. McAlister is passionate about technological advances in the foot and ankle field, specifically in educating patients on the advantages of primary and revision total ankle arthroplasty.
Dr. Kelsey Millonig is a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon and is elated to serve the people of her home state, Iowa. She is passionate about improving patient outcomes in foot and ankle surgery with innovative techniques, research, and leadership. Dr. Millonig offers expertise in minimally invasive surgery (bunions, hammertoes, flatfoot), limb deformity correction and lengthening(clubfoot, congenital defects, brachymetatarsia, or traumatic deformity), orthoplastic reconstruction (soft tissue injury), nerve injury, charcot neuroarthropathy, arthritis, total ankle replacement, and traumatic injuries. With her extensive athletic background she also enjoys treating athletes with sports injuries allowing them resume competitive activity.
Haywan Chiu, DPM, is a podiatric surgeon at Albuquerque Associated Podiatrists in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He specializes in diabetic limb salvage.
Dr. Chiu's medical education has taken him from coast to coast in the United States. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2007, before moving east for medical school, graduating from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2013. His residency took him back to the west coast and the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Palo Alto Podiatry Residency Program and Stanford University.
Before joining private practice, Dr. Chiu was an assistant clinical professor at the University of New Mexico in the Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation department. It was during his early years of practice that he found his specialty area: diabetic limb salvage.
Additionally, he has an interest in surgical education, and believes video format should be embraced by future educators.
Dr. John Steinberg is a Professor and full time faculty member in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington DC. He is Co-Director of the Center for Wound Healing at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital where his practice emphasizes multidisciplinary resident and student teaching. Dr. Steinberg is the Program Director for the MedStar Health Podiatric Surgery Residency Program and is also a faculty member for the Georgetown Diabetic Limb Salvage Research Fellowship. He is a Past President of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Steinberg is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot surgery as well as reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. Dr. Steinberg earned his BS degree in Biology and his DPM degree from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1995. Upon graduation, Dr. Steinberg entered a three-year surgical residency at the Inova Fairfax Podiatric Residency Program and then completed a one year Diabetic Foot / Limb Salvage Fellowship with the University of Texas in San Antonio. He was a member of the full time faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio from 1999 to 2004 before returning to the Washington DC area. He has lectured extensively on diabetic limb salvage nationally and internationally, and is actively involved in clinical research and publication.

Dr. Wynes has special interest in management of foot and ankle arthritis, adult and pediatric flatfoot, and cavus conditions. He also specializes in infection, malunion, and nonunion management of the foot and ankle.

Dr. Wynes is co-director of the University of Maryland Limb Preservation Program and program director for the Deformity Correction Fellowship. He is a national lecturer on Charcot neuroarthropathy, limb salvage, and other foot and ankle disorders.
Dr. Wynes was recognized as 2021 "Physician of the Year" at University of Maryland Midtown Campus. He also has been recognized as a "Top Doctor" in the specialty of Podiatry by Baltimore magazine.
Dr. Karl Dunn was born and raised in Macomb, Michigan. After completing his undergraduate studies in Microbiology at Michigan State University, he attended Kent State University (formerly the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine) where he earned his medical degree. Dr. Dunn then completed a comprehensive three-year Podiatric Surgery residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. Following residency, Dr. Dunn advanced his surgical and clinical training by completing an additional year of fellowship at the Pennsylvania Intensive Lower Extremity Fellowship, where he trained on the latest techniques in total ankle joint replacement, sports medicine, adult and pediatric reconstruction, and lower extremity trauma. He also has a special interest in wound care and advanced limb salvage techniques. Dr. Dunn has enjoyed staying involved in the latest medical research, where he has co-authored numerous medical journal articles and presented his work at local, state, and national scientific conferences.
Dr. Dunn is extremely happy to return back to his home state, along with his beautiful wife and two children.
Dr. John R Clements, DPM is an orthopedic foot & ankle surgery specialist in Roanoke, VA and has over 20 years of experience in the medical field. He graduated from Temple University in 2003. Dr. McKenna is a board certified foot and ankle surgeon and the founding surgeon of the Thibodaux Regional Foot and Ankle Center in Thibodaux, LA. He is an attending surgeon for the East Jefferson Podiatric Medicine and Surgery/ Rearfoot and Reconstruction Surgical residency. He is a previous Fellow at the Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Columbus, Ohio. He completed his residency in foot and ankle surgery at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he was appointed a Clinical Fellow of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. He has published many peer reviewed research articles, including 2 award winning manuscripts, presented multiple manuscripts and research posters at national meetings, has published multiple textbook chapters, lectures regularly and is recognized as an expert in foot and ankle surgery by his peers. His interests include advanced reconstructive surgery, total ankle replacements, deformity correction, research, and innovation. His primary focus is providing excellent care to his patients while working to improve and advance the tools to provide that care.

Dr. Adrienne Estes is a podiatric surgeon currently practicing in southern California. She is an Assistant Professor for Western University of Health Sciences and Chief of Podiatry at Riverside University Health Systems. She graduated from WUCPM and after finishing her residency in NY at the HHC Hospitals she completed her fellowship at the North Jersey Foot & Ankle Fellowship under Dr. Michael Subik. She currently specializes in minimally invasive surgery, complex limb deformity correction, limb salvage, and surgical offloading solutions for diabetic ulcers. She is double board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is also a fellow of the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing since 2016.
She is currently the site coordinator for the PGY3 residents from VA Loma Linda and leads the Foot & Ankle Grand Rounds at the RUHS Orthopedics Residency program. She was recently voted faculty of the year at WesternU and is currently advancing the medical school curriculum with surgical cadaver conferences for pre-clinical students. She has served on the fellowship committee for ACFAS, surgical committee for AACPM and most recently, the OR committee at her local hospital. She continues to grow as a speaker for both regional and national meetings and conferences.
